Welcome to 2022. A new year has begun, a new chapter in our lives, so after a well-deserved break, I am ready to start writing the lines of this new chapter and bring you lots of interesting content.
As promised in my last article, I’ve got a few changes to announce and a few surprises. I always make an assessment of my performance at the end of each year, and then plan changes to improve where needed. This has been one of the basic principles of my life, not only on a professional level but also personally.
New YouTube channel
One year ago, I have launched my personal YouTube Channel. Just like this blog, the channel is dedicated to all things regarding translation. I am very passionate about my job, and I like to share my knowledge with other translators because I believe that may help them in some way or another. However, I think the name of my channel wasn’t the best. I chose my CC, for Cátia Cassiano and I don’t think my name screams out translation, even though I love it and I am very proud of it. So, this year I decided to change it to be more in sync with the content I produce. The new name is All About Translation. I have also changed the name of my weekly vlog to “The Translation Insider”.
Even though the channel has a new name and colour scheme, the content will be very similar. I will still talk about translation and how to run a translation business. It will be an addition to this blog.
I will continue to promote my courses. As you know, at the end of last year I have published a course at Udemy. The aim of the course is to help those who are planning to start their translation career. It gives you tips on how to build your business plan and have everything ready before you start. It is published in English and Portuguese, so you can choose which variant you prefer. Both courses are the same, except for the Qualifications module, where I talk about options in Australia and UK, for the English version and options in Portugal and Brazil for the Portuguese version.
A brand new course
I will also be working on a brand new course to be announced this year. This idea came after the release of these first courses. For now, I can reveal it will be only in English and it won’t be published at Udemy. So stay tuned because there will be news about this over the course of the year.
So, expect more interesting content about translation. I want to keep talking about my industry and the important work translators do. But I also want to tell those who are starting now, that they are not alone and there is a full community here to help them. I am certainly one of them. If you are one of those colleagues and you have any questions, please feel free to drop me a line, through my contact form.
Lastly, I wish you all a happy and successful 2022. So, come with me and help me write this new chapter!
